The chest is almost as important for sex appeal as ripped abs or bulging biceps. You may not keep a world from cracking in two or lift a mountain like HULK, but your personal Chest development is important.
You can look around and find plenty of how to guides on getting a chest like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Lou Ferrigno, but they are not the hulk (well lou was once). The green monster is an example of size ,strength and definition.
When you set out to build a chest like the hulk you need to do a few things.
- Nail your diet to the wall
I mean NAIL it. nothing will slow you down faster than eating a double whooper just to get your protein in. Make sure you plan out your meals a head of time. Prepare it a few days at a time and aim to hit your protein count. which should be 1.5 -2 grams of protein per pound of muscle you want. If you are using a Beachbody program like Asylum or P90x refer to their nutrition guides
- Go HEAVY
The pectoral muscles can be worked a few times a week just not back to back. When you do a chest workout you need to be maxing out at 8-9 reps the last one should feel like you are lifting a car. The reason you go so heavy is to compensate for the load your core and biceps will take off your chest.
- Pick a workout you will do
Not one you can do just , one that you will do. It needs to be difficult or you will not experience the growth you want. I can recommend Body Beast (the entire program), P90x (Chest and Back), or Asylum (Strength), but i love the simplicity of working out at home. Those programs really target the pectorals and will push you to your limits and beyond.
